Battle of Sekigahara (Japanese Daimyo)

The battle that took place on September 15, 1600 at Sekigahara, Gifu Prefecture, between 80,000 men of the Eastern Army led by Ieyasu Tokugawa and 100,000 men of the Western Army led by Mitsunari Ishida on the side of Toyotomi is considered one of the greatest battles in Japan. The Gifu Sekigahara Battlefield Memorial Museum exhibits many documents including the War Banner. Here is a video of the Museum. Here is a video for better understanding in English.

Did the East-West division of Japan somehow live on after that period? Is it still there today, politically, culturally?

The East-West divide in Japan, both politically and culturally, does not remain today, but it was the clans that belonged mainly to the West force, such as the Satsuma, Nagato, and Tosa clans, that overthrew the 264-year-long Tokugawa shogunate, which was based on the East force, in 1868, and brought about the Meiji Restoration. The military flag used in the 1868 Civil War = Boshin Civil War can be found here; "New Government Forces" could be roughly read as "Former Western Forces" and "Former Shogunate Forces" as "Former Eastern Forces".
